(5,817 posts)And did you notice that inappropriate grin that started to form on Mitt's lips at about the :30 mark? At least he didn't start giggling like he usually does at time like this.

(793 posts)But as I turn, step by step, sorry I got carried away, with the whole megalomania thing!
he doesn't have a Karl Rove as of yet and I don't know if he will get they will let Karl into the day to day thing. I think that Mittens and his staff think they have it under control and they want his super pac money but think they can do the day to day as they have in the past. Which to me has been extremely well as Mitt might say is really fabulous! he seems to think that if he is asked something he doesn't necessarily have to answer. I figure this will happen for a while.

(52,253 posts)he didn't ignore him. the one decent thing he did was he talked to him.
he gave expressed zero sympathy for his condition or situation, and he gave the response of a rigid ideologue.
but he did talk to him and even offered a (lame) suggestion (synthetic marijuana). he ran away when the easy answer didn't work.
"you're just going leave a man in a wheelchair to suffer?" would have been devastating.

(1,981 posts)White House Offers Dismissive Response to Marijuana Petitions
Like many, we are interested in the potential marijuana may have in providing relief to individuals diagnosed with certain serious illnesses. That is why we ardently support ongoing research into determining what components of the marijuana plant can be used as medicine. To date, however, neither the FDA nor the Institute of Medicine have found smoked marijuana to meet the modern standard for safe or effective medicine for any condition.
As a former police chief, I recognize we are not going to arrest our way out of the problem. We also recognize that legalizing marijuana would not provide the answer to any of the health, social, youth education, criminal justice, and community quality of life challenges associated with drug use.
In other words, utter and complete bullshit.

Thank you,for posting the video from youtube! Keith discussed this same video clip on CountDown!
"Keith Olbermann Resurrects Ice-Cold Mitt Romney Encounter With Medical Marijuana Patient" "Mediaite"~ "Holton is a 23 year old who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), which, as he explained to Gov. Romney when he met him in New Hampshire during the 2008 presidential campaign, is a rare form of the disease. He also explained to Romney that his five doctors all recommended that he use medical marijuana, which helps to relieve his pain and stimulate his appetite, and asked if Romney, as president, would have him or his doctors arrested.
Gov. Romney starts off by raising the issue of synthetic marijuana, which Holton says makes him vomit. Romney says Im sorry to hear that, but he may as well be apologizing for a bowl of cold soup.
"Im not in favor of medical marijuana being legal, Romney concludes, and as Holton tries to press Romney for an answer as to whether he would enforce that position by arresting doctors and patients, Romney has already moved on to pressing the flesh. When a bystander asked Romney why he didnt answer Holtons question, Romney wheeled and curtly replied, I spoke with him.
Now, Romney supporters would probably call this encounter manipulative, and as the guy hectoring Romney with Youre just going to ignore a person in a wheelchair? indicates, they would be right about that, to some degree. Olbermann, for his part, never even bothers to identify Clayton Holton by name.
However, there is a human face to almost any policy, and a candidate for high office needs to be able to defend political positions to those human faces. If Romneys position protects some greater good, then he ought to be able to articulate it, especially in a situation like this." (14,014 posts)Doesn't matter that the guy is in a wheelchair. Romney had gone as far as he was comfortable on that subject, and moved on.

He couldn't come up with a thing to say to this man???
No thanks - I don't want a President that is not a quick thinker.
There are just too many important decisions to make when you are the leader of the free world.
What a prick! A soulless prick!

(30,885 posts)He really does shut down, and if he's challenged at that point, he becomes belligerent. Just look at his famous / infamous Fox interview for proof. If he becomes agitated when being interviewed by FOX NEWS, that's NOT a good indicator of his overall mental health.
