I hope it was shared it with his chief of police. After that, I hope the local news got ahold of it.

If it is not his jurisdiction does he have the right to ask for his ID?

Cop said he was provoked into acting like that.
Sheriff saidonly that the deputies language was inappropriate and he dealt with that by suspendinmg the deputy but did not say for how long.
Maybe the sheriff feels that threatening to jail the man for "running his mouth" is just OK even if it is threastening the man for exercising his rights to freedom of speech.
