(8,159 posts)Pulling his gun out on a guy that did nothing to warrant it!
I guess he should be glad he is white.
Black or Latino and he would be dead!

(12,233 posts)He says, "you guys have done enough to my family already".... and then says the station is "corrupt"... AND then the cop is trying to claim he's some sort of nutty "constitutionalist"; like that might justify someone shooting this man or a member of his family in the future.
I really wish we had a little bit more background knowledge on why the man and his family is being targeted by the police. Perhaps we will get the whole story... No matter what, the police are making themselves look incredibly bad in this situation. There was no justification for stopping, getting out, telling the man to empty his pockets, chasing him around his vehicle with a gun unholstered, and then trying to make the guy into a "nutty constitutionalist" I guess just in cases the cop decided he could get away with shooting him or perhaps shooting him at a later date in time.
Background would have been awesome. BTW, if that man had been black and refused to pull his hand from his pocket, I think the police officer might actually has shot the man in the end of his own driveway.

Makes me wonder how many cops may be taking Prozac or something similar.
We had a really strange incident in our family with my disabled BIL and Prozac.

(135,425 posts)Police are supposed to de-escalate, not escalate.
He stops his cruiser, he LOOMS, then he gets out all loaded for bear. All he had to do is say something friendly, ask for the guy's help, ask if he'd noticed something suspicious, or something, anything, to engage the guy. Instead he treats him like a criminal in his own driveway.
I too would like to know what the background is, here. Did one of this guy's neighbors call the cops on him? Is there something else going on? The guy isn't helping the situation by getting shirty--that's not a crime, but when dealing with a cop who pulls a gun so easily, it's probably best to initiate the de-escalation process oneself, rather than make matters worse. He's lucky the cop didn't shoot him--I'd be very nervous if that cop was in front of my house holding his gun like that.

I wonder if Crowley still teaches sensitivity classes, or whatever the fuck he taught.

(1,245 posts)1) Rohnert Park is an upscale/expensive, and definitely largely progressive town in Sonoma County (CSU Sonoma is located there).
2) The guy being questioned is almost certainly white, and in an obviously nice neighborhood.
