But fear is only half of the equation – once they make voters scared, they have to be able to convince them that they are the only candidate capable of keeping them safe – all the voter has to do is put their blind faith into that Republican candidate. This is how Republicans manipulate voters.

2. Trump and Sanders are both symptoms of a much larger problem

and that is that people have simply lost faith in institutions from the government to the political parties and their insider power brokers to business, especially banking. Trump is a loose cannon, rich enough that nobody's gonna tell him what to do. Sanders is the only one out there consistently talking about the issues that affect us all, with common sense solutions to many of the problems and nobody's going to loosen his grip on reality in favor of party orthodoxy.

We're about to live in very interesting times, I fear.
