What's up with folks on DU being so negative? Yuiyoshida posted this because it was interesting. It's not your money? Maybe it'll spark some other interesting idea. You should check out TED talks sometime and open your mind to innovative ideas. Heck here in Minneapolis we just spent 7 Million dollars building the first public "natural swimming pool" in North America. Very innovative idea, I hope it works. But I suppose you'd say how many low income tents could we build for 7 Million.
Nice job Yuiyoshida bringing ideas to DU. Ignore the above criticism.

....then yes, it's MY MONEY!!! You don't need to give me any geographical lessons, because hedge funders live on both sides of the Atlantic and they buy most politicians. And yes, more resources should be used to get all Americans housing instead of the these ridiculous status symbols you find so awe inspiring.

that our political and economic system is messed up and needs to be fixed. What I do miss about DU is when people could articulate and share ideas. Now DU is starting to feel like someone puts a garbage can on your head and hits it with sticks and calls it political dialog. A lot of the old timers are starting to leave DU (except Omaha Steve) because of this negativity.

I'm a Union guy for many years and think Omaha Steve is the greatest. I also follow Max Kieser and he focuses a lot of his energy on the septic tank otherwise known as the London housing (debacle) market. Maybe that's what started the slow burn in me. Nothing against posting a fun video. Cheers

I'm a Union steward and E-board member. Sounds like we're cut from the same cloth. The video was a computer animation, it hasn't even been built. It's just an idea. Thanks for say'n it was just a fun post. We should all have some fun now and then. I agree the political and economic situation is out of control and needs to be fixed -pronto! Take care all my best. In solidarity Brother!

...but whatever it is, I imagine that people are being well paid to design, fabricate, and install it.

Should people only put make things if they benefit society at large? How many low-income homes could have been built for the cost of producing the new Star Wars or Star Trek movie? I'm not sure this is a slope I want to slide down.

Floating in your pool while the poors shuffle on by below. In your face modern version of 'Hameau de la Reine'. Americans bought movie tickets in the '30s during the height of the Depression. This is supposed to be a "charming story" from the shlubs at CBS.

...I saw it more as a "marvel of engineering" story.

I guess I just thinking building interesting stuff is cool. And heck, I'm not even paying for it, rich people are.

(Plus, I don't even do glass elevators above the second floor.)
