We just passed the one year anniversary of the murder of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. In the year since, the conservative media has been drumming up fears about angry, vengeful African Americans looking to make trouble; but the truth is that African Americans are simply wanting to bring attention to an issue that has been ignored by the corporate media for far too long.
Ring of Fires Farron Cousins discusses this with political analyst Chauncey DeVega.

(5,644 posts)Whites and cops have been lynching/killing people of color for many, many years and White folk have been frightened of becoming a minority for that long, if not longer?

(21,115 posts)they are now...and they are scared shitless....
I know where you are going...yes its hatred in the larger sense....but they truly fear retribution...that is how HORRIBLE they are...they fear all those things you mentioned....are going to happen to them when they are the minority...BECAUSE they think being in the MAJORITY gives you that right! Its very sick and twisted!

(115,740 posts)We let them because the First Amendment says we have to let people say pretty much anything they want, even if it's bullshit. Can you think of a way of putting a muzzle on Faux "News" that would hold up in court?

(363 posts)What is to be done? Angry vengeful african-americans should be making trouble that is what the civil rights marchers did at the edmund pettis bridge 50 years a go! Talking about angry vengeful african-americans works for fox news only if they are not. If they really were fox would be stopped by the corporate state as rush limbaugh was told to shut up by his stations during the rodney king riots. Demonstrations against fox and its sponsors such as walk out at sporting events televised by fox by black players and hopefully white players too. Demonstrations at news events covered by fox news plus many more actions directed at fox. We have first amendment rights too!

(614 posts)google Julius streicher and read on wikipedia just how horrible he was. if you've ever seen those wretched cartoons of razor-toothed "jews" ripping the heads off of "aryan" children, you know of this man. he was the editor and publisher of the infamous der sturmer, the hate rag of the day that championed all things nazi.
he was also the only non-official, non-military nazi to be hanged at nuremberg. this was how the jurists concluded his case:
"... For his 25 years of speaking, writing and preaching hatred of the Jews, Streicher was widely known as 'Jew-Baiter Number One.' In his speeches and articles, week after week, month after month, he infected the German mind with the virus of anti-Semitism, and incited the German people to active persecution. ... Streicher's incitement to murder and extermination at the time when Jews in the East were being killed under the most horrible conditions clearly constitutes persecution on political and racial grounds in connection with war crimes, as defined by the Charter, and constitutes a crime against humanity.[15]
what fox is doing was once recognized as inciting hatred and crimes against humanity. that no one ever bothers to bring up the comparison to stretcher shows just how far the politically correct police really go, but in the opposite direction those folks always whine about.
serious stuff; wish someone would make a film about the comparison.

(6,719 posts)and the glimpses I got of FN were sort of outlandishly funny and unbelievable. I thot no one would take them seriously. About eight years ago I moved and had a TV and have been terrified ever since -- people believe them! More than scary.
