Related: About this forumClinton protester: We have to move past rhetoric
It seems like the core criticism against protestors, regardless of the candidate they're protesting, is that they should listen to people in positions of power who already have their best interests at heart. The key misunderstanding is it's the protestors (and all of us) who should tell our representatives what are our best interests, and if that mean making some politicians feel uncomfortable, I'm cool with that.

even though he allowed BLM to occupy the stage and make their points.
When Hillary's speech is interrupted (not even from the stage but from the audience) and they're escorted out of the building... the media makes the point why would Hillary be expected to listen to someone who's screaming at her? You guys need to calm down and trust that Hillary has your back.....
The media has an agenda.. They had an agenda when Bush stole the election from Gore. They had an agenda during the run-up to Bush's oil war in Iraq. And they have an agenda as to who becomes the Democratic nominee for President. Beyond creating a facade, they're not interested in debating issues that matter to poor and middle class American, they're interested in manipulating public opinion...

(854 posts)Occasionally we see good work, but too often we see brainless repetition and the equivalent of an infomercial, propaganda, or hyping something emotional. They love emotion. For example, going to war involves lots of emotion. So, go for it, hype it. Generate excitement. Get lots of people killed.

Billary and her GOP opposition have BILLIONS to spend on TV ads - via TV channels owned by corporate donors. Does that help you understand the slant?

(5,644 posts)WTF... At 71 y/o and I hate when people start trying to Whitesplain to me. Hillary didn't have my back in 2008, that's why I didn't vote for her then. And I'm sick of hearing people talk about Bernie and Hillary their fanbase telling me that their particular candidate has my back. I've been here long enough to know when a particular candidate has my back.
All I said was YUCK to Don Lemon. And Now I've got to calm down because Hillary's got my back? pfftt!
and who the hell is BPM?
ETA: I agree with Maxine Waters...

(1,370 posts)I wasn't saying you needed to calm down or that any candidate had your back.
That's what Lemon was telling the reprensentative from BLM.....
I was just pointing out that Hilllray was given perefrenical treatment by the media...

(5,644 posts)I did blow-up.
Especially when people keep assuming they know who I'm voting for when I don't know yet, and they will stuff their opinion down your throat figuring they've got you pegged right. How do you communicate with someone that won't take no for an answer?
Again, I'm sorry.

(1,370 posts)I completely understand the frustration.. Sometimes people forget that we're not going to change the world here on DU and we all want this to become a better world for ALL of our kids...
No apologies necessary....

(2,078 posts)The primary complaint against the protestors, whether you agree with them or not, seems to be they're attacking the wrong person, because it's clear that whoever they're attacking has their best interest at heart.
People get to judge who has their interests at heart.
