Last week, Ben Carson was talking about intelligence he had that the Chinese military had moved into Syria. When pressed, he said he had secret sources that were better than the White Houses. (2,382 posts)... almost, but not quite.
Surgeons must have a high level of confidence in their abilities - a nice, healthy ego, if you will - in order to do their very difficult jobs effectively; we get that. But when someone's ego becomes an all-consuming monstrosity like Carson's obviously is, it becomes destructive.
Carson appears to believe that if he says something, anything at all, no matter how insanely ridiculous it may be, it becomes Truth simply by force of his indomitable will. He does, after all, sit at the right hand of The Naz, and he's got a cheesy portrait to prove it. At least it's not on black velvet.
Carson's grasp on reality has slipped its moorings and is hopelessly adrift, heading downstream toward an inevitable plunge over the political equivalent of Niagara Falls.
So Ben, it looks like you're about to learn the hard way that just because you're good at one thing, it doesn't necessarily mean you're smart enough to be president.
