They do it not only to save and make more money, but to control us. It's not just Fox that spews propaganda. Bernie wants to break up the media oligarchy, what does Hillary say to this?

(10,495 posts)I don't because I know that she represents Donors instead. We have seen what a corporatists President does, throw us a few bones, but always looking out for Wall Street, the MIC, oil companies, insurance companies, Big Pharma... Is Obama better than any Republican, sure, but is he what he promised us he would be? The answer is a resounding "No!' Hillary would be much the same, but I do not wish to live under corporate rule any longer!

This really is scary. It tells you that the MSM big wigs(all 6 of them) are pushing their slanted views to all of their conglomerates, to make sure you obtain the same distorted ideas as the MSM, across the board. And these 6 are part of the 1%.
Even though the message here was no big deal, rest assured that we are all being fed the same bullshit, across the board, word for word by the 1%.

(8,069 posts)or did people notice that these were all local Fox affiliates? My local ABC News station is also a "Fox affiliate" so I imagine they broadcast the same mindless drivel.
Not even the weather reports are free from this BS. Nowadays, instead of just giving us a forecast, we get "FIRST ALERT!" The first time I saw this I thought a tornado was coming our way, but no, this is just how "cloudy, with a patch of light rain" is now framed.
BE AFRAID! And also, SHOP SHOP SHOP.
Our corporate masters have spoken.

(15,139 posts)drizzle, the local stations go on immediate "storm watch." It's embarrassing. Then, if rain really does start to fall in any appreciable amount, they put reporters (I use the term loosely) in the field without an umbrella for maximum drenched rat effect.
The local ABC affiliate, owned by Disney, is a veritable commercial for the brand. They use Disney's California Adventure park as a backdrop for their weather "reporting" and anything at all happening there is treated as major news.
All local stations here are guilty of treating random car chases as entertainment. They will stick with a chase for hours, devoting entire newscasts to it. Bread and circuses.

Wouldn't want anyone to think or speak independently. With enough peer pressure the corporations know the formula works.

(6,419 posts)There's no political content, for one.
Jeez try watching RT, reading PRAVDA, or Chinese or North Korean media if you want some real propaganda.
but that wouldn't fit into the protocols, would it.

(14,174 posts)Of those that say "Well the national network is one thing but all the local stations are completely independent"
and if they dictate trivial stories and talking points like this to local stations, they obviously must do the same for politically tainted stories.
