They can't, even if it is state law, it is blatantly a violation of 1st Amendment's establishment clause. A judge cannot rule based on religious tenets, period, lest they find the ruling contested all the way to SCOTUS if need be.

Then chicken won't fly.

would be unfortunate, but I don't think that's what will happen. Too much at stake and enough know about it. Besides, the data dump game is just getting started. I suspect that the majority of tantrum activity will be taking place on the other side of the aisle. Don't be swayed by a skewed MSM and all the misinformation campaigns out there.

That is always the problem with the likes of Bentley. With their God there are no consequences because there is always forgiveness for their criminal acts but consequences for everybody else's criminal acts. And it is God's will that such a double standard exists. Indeed, it reminds me of Gandhi when he is purported to have said "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians because they are so unlike your Christ" and that describes Bentley to a tee.

Because they just don't care. They day they're doing this "for the children" but then they go out and commit some horrifying acts. But then they'll "pray for forgiveness" and everything will be better. We got to stop electing these fucking assholes.

who are we to say he's an asshole. Of course, I'd like to hear it directly from God - which begs the question, "How will we know God will forgive him?" Will Bentley have a dove come rest on his shoulder? Will he walk on water? Will he be reelected (of course he will).

Always wanting to judge others about family values while they commit non-family value acts! It wouldn't even bother me that he is involved in this act...what bothers me, is that he (and the others like him) like to wear morality and family values on his sleeve while he himself chooses to behave otherwise!!

This part of Matthew 7;

‘Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgement you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck in your neighbour’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbour, “Let me take the speck out of your eye”, while the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbour’s eye. (Matt 7:1-5)

And especially this part of Matthew 25;

‘When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and he will put the sheep at his right hand and the goats at the left. Then the king will say to those at his right hand, “Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?” And the king will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” Then he will say to those at his left hand, “You that are accursed, depart from me into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not give me clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.” Then they also will answer, “Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?” Then he will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.” And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.’ (Matt 25:31-46)

used Abraham to found Judaism, married his half-sister and had his first child with her maid.

David, so beloved of God that God Joseph traced his lineage to David, had a bit of a harem and a wandering eye.

What is most dangerous about The Family, IMO, is that they believe the laws of man and God do not apply to those "called" to lead. Recall then Governor Sanford muttering about King David when Sanford got caught cheating on "the Applachian trail." David, of course, caught sight of Bathsheba bathing, fell in "love' and then tried to have her husband killed in battle.

A couple weeks later the couple had married and went back to the landlord, who had no problem whatsoever renting to them.

Methinks the algorithm of the adbot needs tweaking just a bit.
Or not. As one so easily amused, I can ignore web ads.
