(16,191 posts)Even if you're raising money for the wrong candidate in this primary, honesty is sooo sexy.
tomm2thumbs
(13,297 posts)or she would not need to raise money from SuperPACS, fat cats, etc
CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)so that is exactly right.
Sanders has twice as many individual contributions as Clinton.
She does not have the broad base of "We The People" funding her campaign, like Bernie does. So, she relies on the glitterati and the corporations.
tomm2thumbs
(13,297 posts)are they votes from people who aren't motivated enough to care to send money?
I remember when she was running against Obama, she was close in votes too, but she was making loans out to her campaign while Barack was getting record revenues. It's like a 'put your money where your mouth is' disconnect.
CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)Maybe many of her supporters are voting for her based on name recognition/inevitability--and therefore there is a lack of enthusiasm?
I sometimes wonder exactly what is going on. She's got low rally attendance (and always has). She's got half of the campaign contributions as Bernie. The metric that she does have is votes--and I can't help but wonder if she's stealing away across America.
Something just doesn't feel right.

CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)I think it was confusing.
Bernie has twice as many individual contributions as Hillary.
Hillary does have more money--but half as many individual contributions.

(38,546 posts)to get the most hated candidate ever into the White House. Again.
But he's going to do it, nevertheless.
murielm99
(30,765 posts)Yeah, sure. That's why she has 2.5 million more votes than St. Bernie. That's why she has all kinds of support from people who worked with her in Congress, and Sanders has almost none. Yeah, there is some real hate.
dchill
(38,546 posts)The metric is pledged delegates. Caucus states rarely even announce popular vote totals. I state this for reference only, as I'm sure you know it. But false claims are the HRC way, as true claims have an anti-Hillary bias.
And yes, she is the most hated and reviled candidate the Democratic Party has ever fielded. DINJARIE.
murielm99
(30,765 posts)AND the most votes, as I am sure you know. False claims? Why are st. bernie's supporters so math challenged?
dchill
(38,546 posts)by 2.5 million popular votes. That's not possibly true when many states did not even release popular vote totals. Apparently, even basic math skills are above your head. Insulting, eh?
murielm99
(30,765 posts)You are not worth the effort.
dchill
(38,546 posts)CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)Caucus results are not factored into the total number of votes, because the raw vote totals are not released in caucuses.
So, when you say that Hillary has xxx more votes than Bernie--several states are left out of that equation. States that have caucuses.
Bernie won most of those caucuses.

(25,699 posts)Very possibly he thinks those big aggregate donations his event collected really are divvied up appropruiately between the campaign, state parties, and DNC. After all, that's the stated premise of aggregate donations.

(24,411 posts)Clooney is doing some damage control?
His name is attached to these two "obscene" fundraisers. Both events have received enormously bad publicity and they epitomize everything that is wrong with our corrupt-campaign finance system--and he's at the epicenter of all of this.
There were protests at both events.
Maybe he's worried that his brand is being damaged or diminished?
SusanCalvin
(6,592 posts)He's on the Clinton's list anyway. Hopefully she won't win and it won't matter.
