(41,143 posts)April 27. Jane Sanders and Ed Schultz discussed the political revolution that pushes on and the Bernie Sanders campaign in terms of status, personnel, strategy, issues, differences with Clinton, the future and the convention. Ed showed video clips of Clinton's speech from the night before, noting many similarities to Bernie's platform including expanding social security, college debt and healthcare issues. "The talking points are exactly Bernies talking points and weve known for the last year that shes moved much further to the left, in terms of campaign rhetoric, Jane Sanders said. But she emphasized that people have to look at Bernie's long term commitment to issues like raising the minimum wage to $15, his position against fracking which Clinton is for, and trade policies he's always opposed.
In the upcoming races in Indiana, Oregon, California and other states people will be surprised at his strength Jane added. Bernie it seems has not only turned Clinton on some issues, but also Trump who is talking a lot lately about trade and helping workers, Ed commented. Jane responded that in looking at all the candidates, compared to a year ago when Bernie first announced his campaign you could say, "Bernie's won already in terms of shifting the frame of the debate." He's brought things to the surface and has people actually talking about the issues. Bernie has brought millions of people in, some who had given up on the political process, she pointed out. And those young people especially care about the issues in Bernie's platform and the future, and must be recognized.
Jane said she has no doubt Bernie would fare better than Clinton against Trump as the polls show. It's the closed primaries where he's not gaining. Bernie is rallying and working hard in Indiana now, and Jane said they are looking forward to winning a lot of states coming up and looking forward to continuing the fight to win the nomination.

(4,775 posts)Or are you pasting from articles about the vids? I went to the YouTube link and found a way to see a transcript, but it was in some odd line-by-line (numbered) format with no copy text option and no download option, at least as far as I could tell, thought it might be worth asking you.

(41,143 posts)Noam Chomsky countered the "interesting characterization" of Sanders as radical and extremist by describing him as a * mainstream New Deal Democrat" on DN.
>The MIT professor emeritus pointed out that Sanders ideas on TAXES and HEALTHCARE are supported by the majority of the American public and have been for a long time.
>During the Reagan years, about 70 percent of the population thought that NATIONAL HEALTHCARE should be in the Constitution because its such an obvious right, and in fact, about 40 percent of the population thought that it was in the CONSTITUTION, he noted.
He pointed out that dismissing Sanders as a RADICAL is an indication of how the spectrum shifted to the right during the neo-liberal period, so far to the right that the contemporary Democrats are pretty much what used to be called moderate Republicans and the Republicans are just off the spectrum, theyre not a legitimate parliamentary party anymore.

"More than 8 in 10 Iowa caucus-goers under the age of 30 came to support Sanders, as did 6 in 10 of those between 30-44, according to a study conducted for the AP/Associated Press and TV networks by Edison Research.
>"That's unprecedented," said Paul Begala, a longtime Clinton ally. "She cannot be president without the enthusiastic support of those Sanders voters".

(57,936 posts)That's very far from the truth. He used to be on MSNBC until he started talking about the TPP, and then and apparently for that reason, he was gone from there.
Ed Schultz is a great Democrat.
A lot of the time, the Russian station broadcasts Americans who are silenced in our media. If we had a media that broadcast and telecast a wider variety of opinions on the newscasts, I would be very happy. But as it is I watch that Russian station when good bits of shows are posted here. And I love Thom Hartman and Ed Schultz's shows. Nothing as good on our TV.
