Paul Robeson, Ballad for Americans

My memory says it was pressed on yellow vinyl and I played it every Sunday (probably not EVERY Sunday) and thought of it as my Sunday Song.

I'm having a nostalgic day and YouTube is a miracle for old memories.

It was the fifties and my parents were burying books on a Connecticut farm. But I had my Sunday Song.

and loved good music hated Paul Robeson. As a bigot, she hated him naturally because he was "black" and I think she resented the fact that a "n***r" (her words) could have such a magnificent god-given talent. Then when America drove him out and he went to Russia, she had an acceptable reason to detest him as a "red."

On the other hand, I love Paul Robeson. Thank you for that wonderful piece of nostalgia.
