Related: About this forumTYT: Why Is Joe Biden Talking About Running Mates?
He makes some really good points regarding what is being said and/or inferred from some interviews within the past week or so. It seems that the higher ups are more concerned about a Hillary indictment than they are letting on, if you believe what Cenk is saying.
They cannot shove Biden down our throats IF that happens. It would be an absolute disaster.

(1,782 posts)To make the case that the nomination is his, Bernie may need a majority of pledged delegates. He can get that only now, before primary season is over.
If Hillary gets nominated and then indicted, the powers that be can argue that Bernie never had enough votes from Democrats to get the Dem Party nomination.
Blue Meany
(1,947 posts)I suppose they would have to get all the super-delegates to vote for him on the first round of voting, so that there would be a second round. But at the point, all bets are off. I'm not sure that elected delegates would be quite as malleable.

(24,324 posts)something IS in fact going to go down, and way behind the scene alternate plans are being prepared.. Which is one reason THEY REALLY, REALLY want Sanders out of the way.
GO BERNIE !!!!

(11,546 posts)withdrawing after June 7. That makes NO sense especially since he is predicted to win a lot of the upcoming states - including California. Why do these "allies" want him out so bad? To work on the revolution?? Nah... something else is going on.

(1,313 posts)influential voices for progressive causes and values within the Senate, Democratic Party and country after this is done. The "owners" will fight him tooth and nail, but as they are removed from office and influence, one by one, they will continue to loose their hold on the party and this country.
They see the writing on the wall and are trying to push everything they can at this point, even having Dems push noxious shit like TPP (thanks Obama + Hillary) and TPIP (thanks Obama). They are doing everything they can to blunt Bernie's influence and they are failing. That is why he must stay in regardless of whether he will receive the nomination.

(2,166 posts)What a ridiculous statement. Bernie has done more than well enough having won 19 states outright to fight all the way through the primary in California. Sorry to burst your wishful thinking. If Hillary can't beat Trump that's really her problem isn't it.

(1,192 posts)Biden? Perhaps.
But can you really see Warren deserting a senate seat for a VP spot? And be a patsy for the 3rd way? Become somebody's shadow for 4 years? I think not.

(13,866 posts)At that point the Democratic Party would have to appoint someone to take her place which could be Biden-he's the logical candidate for an "appointment" in the insider politics game.

(16,230 posts)At what point does a nomination become "set in stone"?
jalan48
(13,866 posts)The Democratic Party would have to appoint someone. I don't think there is a rule that says the runner-up would get the nomination in this case. Given the current make-up of the Party leadership Biden would seem to be the choice for an appointment.
drm604
(16,230 posts)I don't know the answer. At some point they have to apply to be on the ballot of each of the 50 states and there must be some date after which that can't be changed.
jalan48
(13,866 posts)I would think as long as it's done with plenty of time before the general election ballots could be changed, especially given that many are electronic now anyway. It would fit well with the "Shock Doctrine" theory of change. "Sorry folks, we had no choice."

(9,865 posts)I like Biden better than HRC and wish Warren had a chance to be our first female president. But it should now be a Sanders Biden ticket if (when) HRC's baggage does her in.
Biden didn't begin as 3rd wayhe really was a more traditional Democrat unless I've got my history wrong. I think his son's death may have restored him a little to his original values.
My motto is: Anything to stop HRC. At least until the general. Mad as hell at the DNC. They thought they could just strong arm away the civil war that's been brewing in the party since the Clinton's DLC. Did I say Mad as Hell?

(2,065 posts)The Bulgarian seer-ess predicted that Barack Obama would be the last president of the US. And that seems even more likely now that the plot is thickening with the whole Hillary Clinton indictment / Joe Biden parachute candidacy thing. Cenk's absolutely right that the whole progressive rage over this presumptuous and arrogant parachuting in of Joe Biden by the party establishment could well wreck the Democratic Party. And maybe hand the election over to Trump, heaven forbid - unless there is also a similar meltdown over his candidacy on the Republican side. But the Republicans seem to be adjusting better to the idea of Trump as president than the progressive Democrats would probably react to the total denial of Bernie Sanders' candidacy by their party establishment. Both parties could very well either melt down and dissolve in this election, or Trump will abolish the constitution and put himself in charge as generalissimo for life of a new Fascist States of America. And that would also spell the end of the United States as we know it.
