(1,474 posts)To be told by someone who has just lost in a national contest that winning is not a goal...I can't get my head around that either. It's almost as if Bernie Sanders theorizes that it is more important to say the same thing over and over than it is to change the world.
That's your understanding of what Sanders is saying?
You're kiddin', right?

(1,474 posts)Did I believe that the phrase "the goal is not to win elections but to transform the blah blah blah" valorizes pure ideology over actually doing things?
Yes.
Is that my takeaway from his message?
Yes.
Do I personally believe that it's more important to win elections and to have a party that is organized, strong, cohesive, and progressive/liberal, rather than sitting around staring at our navels and trying to see who has the more pure ideology?
Yes.
Am I kidding when I say that I support the House Democrats in their scorn for being told by someone who had just lost a national race that it's unimportant to win elected office?
No.

(212 posts)So Democrats keep trying to sell the old meme that politics is nothing more than than a competitive sport between Jesus and Hitler, but then they wonder why all those folks who worked for Bernie aren't racing over to support the presumptive nominee?
Yeah, that'll work.
