It's an interesting overview and history of the Internet, with some bonus material about tangential technological discoveries and developments.
The topic is too broad to do a comprehensive treatment in one movie, but Herzog has brought in a number of different stories and perspectives that provide much food for thought -- occasionally leavened with his gentle, quirky humor. I learned quite a few things, too, in the process. Worth the price of admission.
BTW, in the trailer the woman who talks about the Internet being evil looks like a crackpot -- along with her black-clad family. But what's not clear in the trailer is that she lost her daughter in a grisly car accident, after which some asshole with access to the death scene photos posted them online, and then the family was subjected to unspeakably cruel emails and posts from anonymous cretins. No wonder she finds the Internet a hostile place. Fortunately this is only a small part of the movie (and Herzog doesn't display any of the images -- in fact doesn't even show any images of the young woman when she was alive).
