1. Love Five Guys!

The one we had locally, for some reason went in right next to MacDonald's. I talked it up to everyone and tried to explain that it was NOT more expensive than MacD's when you considered the portions and condiments(not to mention the quality). Worked nearby for a while and would bring back Five Guys takeout and pass around the fries and some peanuts.. Every lunch hour I stopped I'd be one of two or three customers , while cars were lined up around the block for McDonald's. Go figure! Five Guys soon closed and I'm back to driving twenty-five or thirty miles if I want a Five Guys fix.

2. P.S. This is a college town and a lot of the kids missed Five Guys from "home."

If they'd put their joint next to campus instead of near the less popular shopping mall, where the kids seldom go, they'd still be in business.

potential locations to find the best spots possible for their restaurants.
It costs a lot of money.
Been doing it for decades.
Burger King doesn't have one and does no research.
their business plan is to put their restaurants as close to a McDonald's as possible.
Cost $0.
your 5 Guys was probably doing the same.

3. Why didn't he take her to a good burger joint?

I've tried Five Guys a few times, and it's just, "Eh." Their method just seems to be to get a ton of meat and smother it in cheese, and that's good enough. Oh, and look! Our potatoes come from different places (and if you can tell the difference in fries from potatoes from different places in a double-blind taste test, you have a palette that should be eating somewhere else). I've had thick and thin-crispy burgers that were so much better than theirs because the restaurants actually season and cook them with care.

It's probably a thing with them as a couple--American boy, Chinese girl....

I had the same experience in each. Very greasy burger. Limp inedible greasy fries. Threw them away. If someone else pays, I would give them another chance, but I doubt that will happen.

A favorite is children trying foods from around the world. Any good one has Irish people trying foods from around the world.
