But to stand up to the Russians and hold our own as a democracy, we should rely upon a very old weapon - education! A well educated and well informed public / electorate, armed with the tools of intellectual discernment and critical, independent thinking, will always make sound choices when it comes to elections. Just as a well informed and well educated public is the greatest strength of a democracy, so too is the lack of a well informed and well educated public the greatest weakness of a democracy. Even before the Russians came along with their cyber attacks on our election process, we had difficulty making decisions and moving forward as a nation on such critical issues as healthcare, etc... precisely because the American public was lacking in this crucial department. With a well educated, well informed electorate able to think critically for themselves, Donald Trump wouldn't have ever stood a chance. And in an election that was so close, a voting public that was just a little bit better educated and informed would have made all the difference, and would have handed the election to the Democrats. But lotsa luck with the education thing in the age of Trump, reality TV - and Betsy DeVos! Maybe I'm being too utopian and idealistic in my thinking here. But still, I think that, in addition to American History and Civics, that an introductory course to philosophy, logic and critical thinking should be taught at the high school level. What do you think?

of the Russians, and hints at how someone in the Trump campaign could have sharpened up the wikileaks documents for maximum political effect.
