Paul Ryan Is Finished, And 2018 Is Looking Good For Progressives

With the Republicans failing to even bring their disastrous Obamacare replacement legislation to a vote, Paul Ryan was effectively silenced on one of the only issues he’s discussed for the last seven years.  This is bad news for Ryan’s future, and even worse news for average Republicans.  But Progressives are already looking to be in great shape headed into the 2018 midterms, and they can capitalize on the GOP’s failures. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.

where we're at (52 R's to 48 D's)?

That's because of the 34 Senate seats up for election in 2018, 25 are held by D's and only 9 by R's (counting the 2 Independents that caucus with the D's as D's).

D's need to win 28 of the 34 seats in order for the D's to have 51 seats in the Senate and thus control. 28/34 is 82.4%.

This piece doesn't mention the Senate, or the House even, other than deservedly trashing Ryan. Nor the state legislatures nor governorships.

He's also had his sights on the entire social safety net. He wants to get rid of social security and medicare. He'll be aiming there next.
