This is an unusual video, with a commentary overlain that is really outrageous.
I'm not agreeing with anyone, just putting this up for sake of issue coverage.

1. That was certainly interesting.

Hayes and Mensch on the same side. The politics of today does make for strange bedfellows.

Also, while I'm not religious, and really not fond of organized religion, I find Maher's stance on Islam rather bigoted. I don't mind his antipathy towards religion, but he does seem to single out Islam for further scrutiny. Just seems a bit inconsistent to me. Otherwise, I like the guy.

I wonder how long it will take for Islam to purge their really weird and twisted extremists. Unfortunately, belief systems make this a difficult task.

2. I though Maher did pretty well.

Whatever point Hayes was trying to make about Indonesia blew up on him when Maher brought up some interesting facts about the police and military.

3. She made some great points. loved this discussion

not because Maher was "owned" but because she wouldn't back down..Maher dislikes all religions, but particularly Islam, and he's a bit fanatical about it. He says equating Islam with other religions is false because even mainstream Muslims have extreme beliefs.. I don't know if he expects all Muslims to be self hating or what, but, in my very humble opinion, the fundamentalists in every religion are dangerous to humanity in general. The Holocaust couldn't have happened without the complicity of Christians.

I left it stand for authenticity of posting. The unusual interjection format itself is rather weird, editorializing as if we can't think for ourselves and need to be instructed on what to believe about the speakers. The guy has his own agenda, and it isn't to praise people.

He is a good debater but there are a few out there that can handle him pretty good. This wasn't one of those case.

7. Muslims are no more

‘responsible’ for their weird and twisted extremists than are Christians or Jews, nor is it incumbent upon Muslims to purge their religion of violent extremists.

When a Christian commits an act of terror the individual alone is perceived to be responsible, not his religion; likewise, when a Muslim commits an act of terror he alone is responsible, not Islam.
