I have to admit when I looked at the first pic I thought, "Why is the President flying on United instead of Air Force One."

(95,337 posts)Romney would never allow the working class to get so close to him not that many would show up in the first place.

(1,314 posts)I attended this event this morning. I was happy to see so many Obama supporters, in this very "red" part of the state.... BTW, great pics, lots better than the ones I took.
We would love to see your pictures if you would like to post them.

(159 posts)That last picture looks a little scary. The secret service are all over him when that woman hugs him. Could you imagine what could happen being that close to people? Really scary.

(1,314 posts)We were instructed before hand, we could only bring certain items with us, Camera, cell phones, no signs or umbrellas...we all had to go through metal detectors, and security...Tickets had to be obtained on Monday, all names and addresses were entered into a database, our ticket stubs had our names on them and admittance was to be refused if your ticket stub was detached. The whole downtown area was closed off, and secret service was constantly on walk around. I got in line at 8.00 am Metal detectors and gates opened at 9, I think I finally got in around 10:15 or so.....The area the stage was located in, was very secure...Those secret service are very good at their jobs....

(81,467 posts)SO many smiles. SO many open hands reaching toward him. SO many happy-looking people. SO many hugs. SO many wide-eyed children gazing up at him. And that smile of his, straight back at them, and those eyebrows way up. I love the photos of President Obama with kids - the ones who pull at his face, the ones who reach up for his hair, the ones who've dozed off on his shoulder, the ones skittering around at his feet. LOVE those!
He's warm and real and welcoming and approachable and receptive. romney's a fucking robot. A frozen robot at that. NO comparison.

(22,899 posts)Sometimes I wonder who's having a better time, the President or the crowd!! I wish I could see him in person, but I live in California (and I can't afford to attend those fundraisers).

(81,467 posts)Tried to take photos of it as it passed. I'm not very good at it and some of them came out blurry. But I waved! Kinda hard to take photos when you're waving your arm off, though...

(1,314 posts)It was kind of like a "Westinghouse Electric" reunion for me today...I worked 22 years with a lot of the people I saw today....I don't get into the city much anymore, I live about 15 miles south of downtown....Other than getting kind of sunburned, It was a fun day for me...The Tea Party/NRA had planned a counter rally, to be held outside the security area, but, the security area was large enough, nobody heard em....LOL either that, or no one showed up...I'll have to check my sources, to find out what happened to them....

(10,893 posts)they always use the standard "I paid into it" argument. That's a bunch of bologna--if they are so against socialism or whatever, then they should stick to their principles and quit using S.S., food stamps, and medicare. Otherwise, why are they even voting for a Republican??
patrice
(47,992 posts)into it too, thus creating something guaranteed by that COLLECTIVE (socialistic) effort, instead of something gambled by each individual who chooses to put the money into some crap shoot while others don't.
And they'd vote for Republicans because they are SERFS to the corporations and churches and such who are actually socialistic because none of them could even survive without SUBSIDIES in the form of tax breaks and exemptions that the rest of us pick up the tab for (to pay for shared services and resources that corporations and churches use).
