I think Trump made this deal because he has not been able to have one single Legislative "Win" in the Congress with the Republicans there. I think Trump is frustrated with being obstructed by other Republicans and will do anything for a "Win", or the appearance of a Legislative "Win", even if that means working with the Democrats.

This shows Trump's true colors. He has no principles other than his own narcissism. I think he is embarrassed that he can not get anything done in Congress, and this make him look like a Loser, which is a Narcissist's chief fear. So, a deal with Democrats might "appear" to be a "Win", especially to someone with no principles other than "Winning" like Trump.

Trump doesn't care about Republican or Democratic principles. He only cares about his own vanity and ego and that he appears to be a strong "winner". This explains the deal he seems to have made with Schumer and Pelosi. Who knows if he will stick to it, though?
