No, they aren't overtly political, but they are the quintessential heavy metal band (along with Sabbath and Priest).

Musical prowess, intelligent lyrics, and one hell of a live act. Just saw them with my son and youngest daughter in June. Getting a little long in the tooth but they out rock bands 1/3 their age.

Saw them at McNichols Sports Arena, Denver, CO and they played there Number of the Beast, and then they did an encore of Run to the Hills
