(1,097 posts)but then saw a news report of him being rescued and taken to safety by Coast Guard and helicopter ride.
He did a benefit concert shortly after Katrina which was great. However, I can't find it online but will post when I do. Fats was awarded the National Medal of Arts by Bill Clinton but it was lost in Katrina Hurricane. Bush ("W" later replaced by it though.
I've been listening to "Fats And Friends" over, and over, and over -- you can tell they had a ball.
R.I.P. Fats Domino -- you left us with lots of memories and great music.
