(52,243 posts)And while she has no evidence of this (she never claimed anything more than family stories), theres also no evidence shes mistaken, either; and certainly no reason to think she lied.
More important, its utter bullsh*t to take this moment to point out the tiny semi-legitimate point behind donnies Odious insult to native Americans and veterans.
I mean, if Donnie used the n-word, would they seriously try to point out that the term has origins in the Latin word for black????
That way way way misses the entire point or anything about why its offensive.

(52,243 posts)even though their audience tilts rather left, i understand that they still try to poke fun at the left as well.
fine, i have no problem with that (ignoring that the studio audience clearly prefers the jokes at the expense of the right over the jokes at the expense of the left....)
but if it was worth pointing out that warren had made a claim for which she had no proof, how the hell do they justify using this moment to run that story? donnie explicitly made the charge against warren during campaign speeches, fine, address it at that point *when that was the point*.
donnie bringing it up now had everything to do with bigotry. he brought up warren and his favorite insult against warren for the sole reason that he was honoring (well, *supposed* to be honoring) some native americans, and therefore his bigoted brain immediately jumps to warren.
was there a great strategic political need to take warren down a notch?
no, it's just donnie being a bigot, not only insulting warren, but also insulting the honorees standing right next to him, as well as many other americans at the same time.
but such displays of bigotry burnish his image of being a bigot's idea of a great president....
and for some reason the daily show decided inexplicably to let donnie get a clear win on this one.

it wasn't remotely funny, either. no laughter from the studio audience.

(52,243 posts)Certainly he does impressions and accents much better
Plus I like the interesting comedic perspective he brings as someone who is biracial.
But he blew it on this one.

(205,467 posts)I once happened on a stand up special of his - and you're right - he is terrific on impressions and voices! One episode that sticks with me was during the campaign - he was broadcasting from an underground studio, it was supposedly after the apocalypse that took place because Trump had won. It was scary as hell - but of course it was just fictitious.
And Lawrence O'Donnell did a great piece on Pocahontas tonight, talked about her life which was quite remarkable. He said a comparison to her would be a compliment, like comparing a basketball player to Michael Jordan. But of course, it wasn't funny.
