These Trump voters cheer stock highs, but aren't invested

Make rich people richer and it will trickle down all over us eventually right? Some people might get hosed.

I would hope people would have at least a retirement account for when they decide we can no longer afford lavish entitlements like social security or medicare.

I would advise the Trumps to sell off their real estate holdings and put it all into bitcoin and other cryptocurrency.

The others just aren't that smart. I hate to say that, but it's clear on so many levels.

By "them" I mean Trump voters.

I actually agree with the people in the video that the performance of the stock market is a decent indicator of the health of the economy.

Does anyone know, though? It seems like stock markets rise and fall on feelings more than facts.

He says to me, "Why do stocks go up? People buy them. Why do they go down? People sell them. Nothing more to it."

It's 100% emotion.

Emotion might be affected by outside factors like the state of the economy, but that's just one factor of many. Mostly it's about stock traders' perceptions of what the other stock traders are doing. At least on the professional level.

Little guys like me worry about fundamentals. Which is why I don't trade stocks.

people like Warren Buffett and John Templeton made their fortunes by picking stocks that have strong fundamentals but are out of favor with the rest of the investors and are trading at low prices. (buy when everyone else is selling and patiently save your money when everyone else is buying)

Unfortunately sharks like Donald Trump have also done a version of this with real estate but also do nefarious things behind the scenes to help crash the market so they can buy on the cheap while screwing others over.

"I would advise the Trumps to sell off their real estate holdings and put it all into bitcoin and other cryptocurrency."

That is a good advise if you want them to loose everything in a year or two, and by the punch line (the litle devil), I assume that is the intent? Not that I am against your advise to them, I just feel that it is not an advise that other DUers may want to follow...of course that is just my opinion on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency as an industry, my thought is that is more of a scam. I understand many people have made a bundle, but is it at peak now, just waiting for that bubble to explode?

sheer volatility alone makes it unsuitable to use as a currency for legitimate transactions. How can one buy stuff with something when the price swings so wildly? It's hard to price things in digital currency.

It has other problems like the lack of sound valuation methods or effective regulation, and frequent cyber attacks/theft. And I just don't trust it.

DUers would do well to avoid it.
