Of the social safety net there. If they were truly bad off, hunger and homelessness would have replaced boredom.
There is poltical dissent and then there is destroying the nest that nurtures one and stealing from others. In burning down the youth center, they are not helping anyone.
Another thing the narrator said in passing was that this happened in an area which was far from the manufacturing jobs. There's nothing wrong with keeping rural and industrial and urban separated, but if these neo-nazis wanted to better their situation, leave home and get employment in a larger city. Americans have had to do that, and it's a sad thing but fascism is not the anwer to it.
I'm guessing that feeds the red state ideologies. They don't have productive lives so they hold onto to something that doesn't work well, but gives them a lot of time on their hands. Then they point fingers and hate those in more progressive urban areas, whose lives are more satisfying and more profitable.
