(13,890 posts)Classic for a trade war actions.. If Canada puts a tariff on Harley and Indian along with the European tariff might be a death nil for the brand. Harley is in Ryan and Walkers state and would hurt a lot. Hell GE Medical is just outside of Milwaukee, that would hurt their economy bigtime..
Just so long as Trudeau does not put a tariff on poutine I'll be fine...

I had no idea it was a Canadian delight also until recently, here on DU. I assumed it was a southern/french dish.
I have seen it on some local diners in Dallas & never knew what is was or its origination.
Wikipedia:
Poutine is a dish originating from the Canadian province of Quebec consisting of French fries and cheese curds topped with a brown gravy.

Well, now I know.

(13,890 posts)French Canadian comfort food. If you have access to fresh cheese curds (the have to squeak!), good brown gravy and kick ass french fries you can make it at home. I'm surprised with the large French Canadian population down here in So Fla there are not more places selling it. Québécois I worked with say it's good for hangovers too!!!

Personally, I'd rather have a beaver tail. Yum!
And the seafood. Wow!
I absolutely love Halifax.

(4,066 posts)I support Canada's decision to put into place retaliatory tariffs. They should do it and I'm glad the Trump strongholds will be the ones paying the price.
The downside is, Trump will label Canada the enemy/aggressor and his cult will believe it. They will buy Trump's lies that Canada was already unfair to the US even though we have a trade surplus with Canada.

(4,341 posts)Democrats are campaigning hard on these states, they should be able to bring the message and thus defuse the republican lies.
For people to loose their jobs and then try to blame it on the party who is not in control won't make sense...you had a job when Obama was president, you don't have a job now that the man-child is pResident. To me, that is a hard sale, so I see the gop struggling to make that pitch.

(17,911 posts)at their best. You want tariffs, you've got them.
