(2,212 posts)He covered this as just another funny Trump faux pas. It was far worse than that. This was the most shocking moment so far of the Trump presidency and Noah should have pulled out all the stops.

Old Crow
(2,212 posts)It is a comedy show and I'm not sure exactly what I was hoping for, other than maybe more outrage and even a willingness to let the segment get even a little awkward.
My concern is that the more I read about and watch video of today's summit, the more I'm struck by the seriousness of it all, and yet it wouldn't surprise me if everyone will have moved on to something else 24 hours from now. Nothing at all seems to stick anymore.

However, you're right. The outrageous behavior that's come from Trump on a daily basis has become part of the national dialogue and not everyone has noticed that the water started boiling today.

(202,970 posts)The news has really gotten to me and though these are political, it's a (mostly) humorous take - and these days I figure we need all the humor we can get...

And given the Cambridge Analytica scandal - they Trump campaign targeted millions (they're now saying 67 million) of Facebook users - no wonder those are defending Trump. Given the overwhelming evidence of his treasonous behavior, especially after today, I can think of no other reason any American could defend or support Trump.
Firm that helped Trump's campaign harvested 50 million Facebook profiles
A prominent data analytics firm that worked with President Trump's campaign exploited Facebook data to harvest "millions" of profiles of U.S. voters without their authorization, according to a whistleblower who once worked to help acquire the data. On Friday, Facebook announced Cambridge Analytica the firm that was created by billionaire donor Robert Mercer, previously run by Steve Bannon, who went on to become White House chief strategist, and received $5.9 million from Mr. Trump's 2016 presidential campaign has been suspended for violating the social media company's standards and practices.
Christopher Wylie, who worked to help obtain the data, told Britain's The Guardian that Cambridge's entire operation was designed to "exploit" what they knew about people from their profiles and "target their inner demons."
Cambridge Analytica specializes in "psychographic" profiling that allows them to predict the voting likelihoods of individual people based on personality and Facebook is a treasure trove for information like that.
In statement released early Sunday, Wylie said he feels a "sense of regret every day when I see where [Cambridge Analytics] have helped take our world."
