Assange, Democracy & the Decline of the West

Published on Aug 20, 2012 by TheBigPictureRT

Guest host Sam Sacks fills in for Thom Hartmann and discusses Julian Assange's call on the U.S. to once again embrace democracy, transparency and freedom. Also discussed: the deadly miner strike in South Africa, how Republicans plan to win the debate on Medicare if their plan is to end the program and in tonight's "Daily Take" Thom details why he thinks Romney is a sociopathic fascist.

talking about it. By that I mean that their control of media is almost complete. Our experiment with Democracy needs some major work, not just tweaking. As the show mentions, the right to vote must be guaranteed, complete campaign finance reform is necessary, targeted regulations to protect us from our banking system and Wall Street, stronger environmental regulations including a real plan to address Climate Change, education needs strengthening and financial aid to insure that the best minds all get the opportunity to develop. There are others, but you get the drift. Our political parties are basically the Harlem Globetrotters and the Washington Generals. The outcome is predetermined, but they put on a good show!
