One a longtime figure and the other a rising star in Democratic politics, they're trying to make waves in unlikely places.

(8,636 posts)As a lifelong Democrat, I will never support Bernie. He took millions in foreign donations, had foreign socialists working on his campaign (illegal as heck), and didn't quit when everyone knew he had lost. instead he stayed in the campaign, attacking Hillary and helped cause her defeat
He is the only senator to vote NO on all the recent Russian Sanctions bills and then he wails about the sanctions not being placed into action.
His voting record still sucks. So many No votes on Immigration (he wanted to protect white voters), gun control (no 5 times), No on Amber Alert Bill (only one to vote NO), No on Raped women's health care bill that would allow women to find out if their rapist had AIDS or was HIV Positive.
He will never be president. He can't run again under DNC rules and if they even think to allow it, the money from many deep pocketed Democrats like me will stop.
We want a real Democrat who is under 60 to run. No more old goats who won't show their taxes (just like trump), who haven't written articles about women wanting to be raped, or for candidates who can't connect with voters of all nationalities.
PS Calif voters didn't support Sanders and no presidential candidate will win if Ca Dems don't support them.

(37,648 posts)He is not a Democrat. He doesn't adhere to the Democratic Platform.
I expressed concern of her use of the Democratic Socialist term, and other said she's still a Democrat...she just refers to herself that way. Campaigning with a Socialist and a non-Democrat...that's not good. This may hurt the votes in the mid-terms.
There are people who won't vote for socialists, and who are moderate Democrats. I hope the Democratic leaders are addressing this issue. It's a free country, but the Party needs to decide whther to incorporate "socialist" in its platform or make it clear it's not a socialist party, IMO.

(42,641 posts)A 50 state strategy, and one way to introduce people to a different narrative from the one that corporate politicians insist is the only workable way.
If Democrats cannot change the narrative of what is possible, we will always be fighting on ground that the GOP chooses.

1. Putin does have compromising information on Trump.
2. Trump does love authoritarian leaders, he even envies their absolute power.
Trump loves how North Koreans treat Kim Jong Un: I want my people to do the same
After President Donald Trump heaped lavish praise on North Korean leader Kim Jong Uns intellect and personality earlier this week following their historic summit, he raised more eyebrows on Friday by suggesting that he wanted Americans to defer to him the same way North Koreans do to Kim.
Hes the head of a country, and I mean, hes the strong head, dont let anyone think anything different, Trump said during an interview on Fox & Friends. He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.
When asked whether Kim could be a guest at the White House soon, Trump said, I think its something that could happen. He also seemed to tout Kims firing of multiple generals shortly before their meeting. I think he fired at least [three generals], Trump said.
These comments are the latest in a series of compliments Trump has given Kim in the wake of the summit between the two leaders on Tuesday. Trump had even joked during the summit that an anchor on North Korean state television, which broadcasts propaganda on behalf of Kim, praised Kim even more generously than Fox News did for Trump, according to Washington Post reporting.

Thanks Donkees!

(37,648 posts)Are they campaigning together? He's not a Democrat.
The Democratic Party needs to get its ducks in a row, I think. It's a wide tent, but I don't get a good feeling from this.

(37,648 posts)Regardless, I'm still not liking that. But I'm not the one in control.
If Schumer sent someone not in the party to do "outreach" for the Democratic Party, he has some 'splainin to do, since that makes no sense and is in fact harmful. Competition is good...within the party.

(6,344 posts)This is why we have seen so much of Bernie on talk shows, especially right after the hijacked election. Sen. Schumer announced the new leadership changes on Nov. 16, 2016.
There are multiple articles about it, this is but one:
