4. I wish she was more eloquent. The kid was open to learning. Very rare with Trump supporters

I know how hard it is to talk to them. At times we get brain freeze because we have to tread lightly so as not to trigger them. The kid could have been educated on the "socialism" of public schools, libraries, roads, post offices, military, social security, medicare etc., and the lady cut the conversation to talk about Trump's tweeting. Wasted opportunity on a young person with an open mind.

5. It's always hard to organize your thoughts when in public confrontation.

Heart rate up, mild fight or flight symptoms triggered by facing serious ignorance -- plus she was at a rally of lunatics, looked like. Probably herds of trumpanzees lurking. The boy seemed nervous as well, possibly because of such attention, something on the order of performance anxiety.

Someone raised this kid in a weird closet of the mind. Deeply ill.

6. Millions of young people raised "in a weird closet" in this country.....on both sides

I know as soon as I use "both sides", I'm going to get attacked. But people, young people especially, have to start doing some critical thinking for themselves. Listen to ALL sides, and then make up your mind.

When I say "both sides", I mean it from the perspective that even in a Democratic family, the children are often indoctrinated with biases and faulty info. This young fellow needs to be open to talking with his peers, with political points of view, listen to debates, and watch and read sources of info on both sides of the spectrum.

This country is FILLED with morons....MILLIONS of morons. God bless this woman for approaching him and making the effort to get him to think for himself. He knows what he likes and doesn't like. Now he has to apply that to the man, the party, and to his country.

8. Yes, by all means, let the children listen to the sweet words that drip from the lips of Nazis.

Fair is fair, after all. Both sides, the reasonable and the followers of Moloch. And if the children choose the Cauldron of Despair that is modern Conservatism, then we shall all burn, but it will have been fair. Let Darwin have his day. Let the human race sink once again into barbarism in the name of fairness.

I can think of more than a few ghosts of WWII who might disagree with your evenhanded welcome to the Servants of the Pit, and your mild condemnation of the pudding-heads of the left.

One wonders if you have raised children yourself, or of what Democratic family you know who indoctrinates their children with 'biases and faulty info'. I know my kids are hard-headed humanist/scientists, skeptical of all things and avid consumers of books. I filled them with history and math, and I'm quite certain of their moral compass. One thing I did not do -- suggest they study 'both sides' as if each might contain some small measure of truth, and hope they find their way to the comfortable middle that so often foments mass murder because -- 'both sides'.

Personally, 'both sides' means to me progressive hyper-lefties and moderate Democrats. The rotten core of primitive strongman politics and religious slavery I recommend only as anthropological studies in genocidal apocalypse.

Will that do for an attack?

9. Many parents, unfortunately, are distainful and afraid of critical thinking.

It's the most important thing that we can teach students, and applies to most subject areas. Going home and challenging long-established parental mindsets, is rarely well received. In those cases, hopefully, the student will pursue the truth and learn, but not just challenge their parents' ideas. That takes more maturity and experience than most yet have, and many closed minds will not open for the most brilliant teacher. I've been saying i since the 60's, with no pride nor satisfaction, that we are a nation of morons. I just had no idea the number. This is scary.

You always think of a million things you could have said to them after you get home. I think because as Democrats, rather than return their negative energy,we want to give them some kind of fact that may help them break through the right wing fog of bullshit.
