Even Without fanned frets, intonation across such a wide range of string guages is really problematic, its more a Chapman Stick than a bass, imo.

They make 8 variations of the Stick. The original is 10 string. There are 8 and 12 string versions and MIDI capability.
Note the deepest base string is in the center:
