A Catholic activist asks Ryan why his budget is based on on Ayn Rand rather than Christian principles. He runs away without answering.

I'm sixty-eight years old and have never before felt the need to use the word wanker, but this guy is a wanker.

Is there a next level up the jerk chain from wanker? Because Ryan would surely qualify.

But this Ryan character is the biggest and, in many ways, the worst of all of the GOP wankers thus far.

Ryan of course now mendaciously claims to have never worshipped at the feet of MS Rand. It is Thomas Aquinas, you see, who is his true mentor and spiritual hero. Really? John Fugelsang just pointed out on TV that Aquinas felt this way about mateiral things:
“Man should not consider his material possession his own, but as common to all, so as to share them without hesitation when others are in need”

So maybe this young Catholic can ask Mr. Ryan to explain why he admires a man who was, clearly, a communist?
(Of course, so was Jesus, but at least with St. Thomas Aquinas there can be no doubt that the words were his and expressed his honest core beliefs.)

The answer to the riddle that is Ryan, of course, is that the little douche has no beliefs and no core values that would not be totally acceptable to Ayn Rand. But since he was told that she was an atheist -- how in hell can you claim to have read all of Ayn Rand and not known she was an atheist preaching an atheistic "philosophy"? -- he had to retreat and find a suitably intellectual, and intellectually rigorous, patron saint. It is clear from his public statements, of course, that he has read deeply into neither author.

In addition to being a supreme wanker, then, Ryan is an intellectual fraud and an amoral hypocrite.

Hard to think of two more conflicting philosophies than those of Aquinas & Rand. Like being a big admirer of Gandhi & Hitler or Jesus Christ & Ronald Reagan.
When your only goal is money & power and you are of limited moral fiber the ability to do or say anything to achieve it is a minor hurdle.
I've read a few articles on here that have highlighted a link between brain make-up/chemistry and the lizard brain mentality we see so many not just operate with in today's America but become our idols. Self-made thieves transforming themselves with marketing into the shining examples we plaster on billboards and thrust into the limelight with TV shows and book deals and then wonder why our society has become so obsessed with material items. Why they know no connection to the natural world or care for the struggles of others. Only for the shiny thing.

16. Ayn Rand did not "preach an atheistic philosopy."

First of all there is no such thing. Second, most all atheists subscribe to some humanistic philosophy, generally that do not absolutely require the lack of any deity in order to be followed.

What Rand was in fact, was a nut-job preaching an anti-humanistic philosophy, who just happened to be an atheist.
