WATCH: New Film Exposes 'Monstrous' Child Deformities Caused by Agrochemicals in Argentina

The film begins with the crew traveling from North Argentina in the Province of Misiones to the Brazilian frontier, an agricultural region that was one of the nation's first to begin growing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in the mid-'90s.

Featured in the film is Ricardo Rivero, regional head of the local electricity company. He learned that the reason families cannot pay their bills is because often they are taking care of a sick or handicapped child, and receive no assistance from the Argentinian government.

The film shows them visiting the humble home of a tobacco farmer where they meet Lucas Texeira, a 5-year-old boy with an incurable genetic skin disease. The family believes it was caused by the mother's exposure to Monsanto's Roundup weedkiller early on in her pregnancy. No one told her it was toxic, she says.

The genetic mutation that caused her son's condition left him with no pores in his skin, which means he doesn't perspire. The heat from his body stays inside, causing him severe and painful itching that leads to frequent crying spells. Mr. Texeira expresses his sadness over Lucas' condition, as well as his fears that he could have another child in the future with a similar deformity.

Agrochemicals lead to rise in birth defects, deformities in Argentinian children

Watch film here (runs abt. 50 mins.)

Sugar causes Diabetes; but eating it won't cause you to "instantly die" it'll just make you sick later down the line. Tooth infections; and leg amputations.

Seems like a pretty darn good source to me.

Sorry that you do not seem to think so!

Mercola is pretty much the definition of quack. While you're at it, do some research on RFK and vaccines. It's no real surprise that he's pointing you to Mercola. (RFK is on the anti-science end of vaccines, as is Mercola)

So, these children who just happened to be exposed to roundup in the womb, created their own disabilities?

https://www.quackwatch.org/11Ind/mercola.html claims Mercola touts suppliments for profit, Monsanto is strictly humantarian, and makes NO profits from farmers, who, by the way are, or was committing suicide in India because of Monsanto seeds, which must be purchased new each year, as opposed to the NORMAL process of saving seeds planting to planting.

There is NO defense for Monsanto!

No one should even be discussing the content, until a reputable source for the underlying facts is provided.

You are assuming Mercola is accurately reporting the raw data. Citing to Mercola as a source of truthful information is like citing to a Weekly World News story about Clinton adopting an alien baby and execting a serious conversation about it. Mercola is the person who still touts Wakefield's (discredited and acknowledged) fake MMR-autism research as good science - (https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/02/07/new-research-shows-link-between-mmr-vaccine-and-autism.aspx).

Cite to a reputale source to establish the connection between disabilities and in utero exposure, and then it's reasonable to have a conversation.

You want a discussion - provide a reputable source, not an uncurated google search.

Mercola is a source that could legitimately be alerted on as a kooky/extremist/conspiracy theorist. His garbage has no more place on DU than does Fox News.

Please point to a single word I have said in defense of Monsanto. Ever. Not just in this thread.

Mercola has no business being cited as a source of authority for anything related to medicine or science, because he is an anti-science whack-job. Nothing he says can be trusted to be factual or scientifically accurate. So there is no point in even having a discussion based on anything he says. We might as well discuss whether the moon is made of blue cheese. (He is literally as unreliable as Fox News, or the Weekly World, etc.)

Are you really that clueless about who Mercola is, and how much of the crap he spews is either fabricated OR lacks scientific basis, or both?

This was the minimum distance required between Glyphosate crop dusting, and any residential areas.

Last year, after meeting with Monsatan lobbyists, Environment Minister Sergio Bergman decreed - with no congressional review - that the "reasonably safe" distance would henceforth be 100 meters (a standard city block).
