(12,904 posts)In spite of the ridiculous questions asked by those hack interviewers.
They said she came out of nowhere to win that tournament. Not one word about how well she played throughout the tournament, or who she beat along the way. Not one syllable about how she enhanced her training team, and trained hard to get herself in a position to win matches against the top players all year.
Savannah, please...that young lady worked her butt off to win that championship. For months!
She was forthcoming, honest, and open in a very difficult situation. Shes a winner.
Cute outfit too, girl!

(4,341 posts)To watch this interview and continue to defend Serena with excuses on why she was right to do what she did? What Osaka just said makes all those excuses null, Serena's action impossible to defend, it is also very sad to hear her say that.
I like Serena, but her actions and that of the public ruined this girl's moment of glory. I really have a hard time with anyone defending Serena Williams on this.
Ozaka apologized...when she should have been jubilant, when people should have recognized her achievement and cheer for her instead of sending the horrible message they did by booing. I don't buy they were booing the referee, I think they were upset that Ozaka beat Serena...Shameful, and shame on Chris Evert and Billy Jean King for defending Serena.
I remember when the NY public would try to get Ivan Lendl off rhythm when he was playing John McEnroe, but Lendl managed to keep his cool and won 3 US Open, one of those against McEnroe.
