I hate the title of the video at YouTube. They don't look like celebrities to me. They look more like citizens.
Oh! They're right down the street. They're in front of the Prettyman Courthouse, which is directly across Pennsylvania Avenue from the East Building of the National Gallery of Art. I had thought they'd be up by the Senate office buildings. They're a block away. I shall take some pictures.

(37,648 posts)Once the Trumper is on the S.CT. With half of Congress in the pocket of Trump & Russia. With the federal courts filled with them. With the cabinet depts headed by loyalists whose purpose is to dismantle those departments, and serve Trump.
The democracy is crumbling.

(37,648 posts)but he nonetheless confirmed, who is the government?
When Citizen's United puts corporations in charge of America, who is the government?
Once Kavanaugh is seated, every major decision that is challenged will be decided by him. Health care, executive privilege, impeachment, taxes...everything.
No one has as much power as the S.Ct.

(37,648 posts)Not sure some people understand what that means. I'm convinced he's a Trump loyalist. I have an idea what it will mean.
Citizen's United was child's play, compared to what's gone on in the last 2 years. Trumpers (not Republicans...Russian owned Trumpers) have taken control of two branches of govt. The S.Ct. + federal courts form the third...if Kavanaugh is confirmed. There will be two Trumpers and two alt-right conservatives on the S.Ct. Roberts becomes the "moderate." Everything will be appealed to the S.Ct. Emoluments, Russian hacking, criminal indictments of a President, executive privilege, health care, taxes.
But we'll see.
The best hope is that 2 Republicans don't vote to confirm, and no Democrats vote to confirm him.

(1,580 posts)If you sit out and don't vote, your world turns to shit. MILLIONS sat on their asses and didn't vote in 2014 and 2016. Now we're in a world of shit.
Don't like the taste of this shit sandwich? Go VOTE.
VOTE that will be our only way to beat this regime.

(43,176 posts)Kavanaugh is a very divisive issue. Not even all Republicans (other than U.S. Senators) are behind him. When the Trump election theft unravels, calls for impeachment will only increase. America has been bulldozed down a road it did not wish to tread.

(37,648 posts)Hate to sound so pessimistic, but we've been through these things where bad things were done by bad people, so people got out and voted. But nothing was ever done, for the sake of "moving forward" or not to "sow more discord."
Was anyone held accountable for the illegal acts/fraud that led to the Great Recession? Were those tax cuts for the wealthy by Bush, which the country took out loans to pay for, rolled back? No. In fact, we extended them.
Do you really think Democratic politicians are going to try to impeach Kavanaugh, once he's seated, and once we get more power? I don't think that's likely. I think they'll move ahead with their agenda, their plans...focused on health care, the economy, and the like. And there's some logic in that. Kavanaugh will be a fresh memory, then a dim memory. There will be reasons not to pursue it. Good reasons. But even if they try, It is likely to be challenged in court, which would end up in the S.Ct.
I'll vote, of course. We can take back the House and hopefully gain seats in the Senate. We'll turn the clock back on some of the horrors that have been done lately. But I think the odds are great that once Kav. is seated, there he will remain.

(43,176 posts)#MeToo women want to have this conversation. Nothing happens anywhere if women don't want to have a conversation. A handful of them may have standing to bring charges in various jurisdictions. If he's indicted, Congress must pay attention, the outrage would curdle Rand Paul's hair. Once citizens seize power in Congress by voting in numbers, the powers that be will be shaken from their grasp. If we could just grab the Senate. A long shot for sure. If Beto could just prevail. We stand 3 or 4 Senate seats and 25 Congressional seats from power. This is the best setup we've had since 2006, and it is 3 times better than 2006.
Grab a hold of yourself, HC. And one more thing ... notice the ENERGY. We are not fading like we usually do. We are gaining strength. This is momentum, Bigger Mo than CHWB ever imagined. When we Democrats can drive protests, work phones and rallies, demand media attention and create buzz - you know something different is happening. We are fighting for the American way of life. No one wants to give that up. They will do anything they have to do, if you can convince them it is that important.
