....About ten years ago the coach of the NY Islanders noticed that Al Arbor, their long-time coach (and best NHL coach ever, in my opinion) had coached 1499 games in his career with the Islanders.

So they brought him back to coach one game, 11 years after he'd retired, to coach a game. Of course the Islanders won (it was Arbor's 740th win) for his 1500th game with the team.

Stuff like that seems to happen fairly often among NHL teams.
