A security guard protecting a synagogue in Los Angeles ordered a First Amendment auditor standing on a public sidewalk with a camera to "get away" before shooting her in the leg
"Fucker shot me. Fucker shot me in the leg," exclaimed Zhoie Perez, a transgender woman who runs the YouTube channel Furry Potato Live.
The security guard continued to order her away with the gun in his hand, claiming it was only a warning shot.
Perez was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the leg.
this led up to the shooting

(16,423 posts)If your job is to get into people's face and provoke them until they freak out, then it's just a matter of time until an accident just like this happens.

(16,423 posts)The odds of being struck by lightning is one in 10 million or whatever EVERY TIME YOU STEP OUTSIDE DURING A THUNDERSTORM.
The odds of getting bit by a shark are one in 10 million or whatever EVERY TIME YOU GO SIMMING IN THE SEA.
The odds of being shot by an irate security-guard are one in a million or whatever EVERY TIME YOU MAKE A SECURITY-GUARD ANGRY.
Go for a walk during enough thunderstorms and you will eventually get struck by lightning.
Go for a swim in the ocean often enough and you will eventually get bit by a shark.
Get in the face of enough security-guards and provoke them because you're a loser who makes money by posting videos on Youtube where you ridicule yourself by pointlessly provoking people, and eventually one day one of those security-guards will shoot you.
It's just a matter of statistics. She deliberately and completely unnecessarily chose a job where there's a high risk of getting hurt.
THERE IS NO POINT FOR THAT JOB EVEN EXISTING!!!
"FIRST AMENDMENT AUDITOR" IS A MADE-UP PROFESSION THAT ONLY EXISTS TO PROVOKE PEOPLE INTO FREAKING OUT, RECORDING THE FREAK-OUT, AND THEN POSTING IT ON YOUTUBE.
She willfully chose to engage in a dangerous activity where it was inevitable that she would get arrested, hurt or shot one day. And then exactly that happened.

(16,423 posts)Do you think it's save to walk through a dangerous alley once?
What about twice?
What about a hundred times?
If you hear that someone was robbed at night in a dangerous alley because they walked through there A HUNDRED TIMES even though they could have taken literally ANY other route, would that sound weird to you?
Do you think it's safe to mock security-guards over and over again until you happen to run into the ONE guy who overreacts and shoots you?

(88 posts)If you can't walk down a dark alley safely, then its a problem which needs correction, not avoidance.
If you can't wear skimpy clothes without risking rape, then its a problem which needs correction, not avoidance.
If you can't EXERCISE FREE SPEECH ON A PUBLIC SIDEWALK WITHOUT SOME DIPSHIT SHOOTING YOU FOR NO REASON, then its a PROBLEM WHICH NEEDS CORRECTION, not AVOIDANCE.
Seriously, your points are horrible.

(16,423 posts)Her job is LITERALLY provoking people with guns until those people with guns freak out.
She was not exercising her right to free speech.
She was not wearing skimpy clothes because she likes the fashion.
She was deliberately antagonizing people. For money. She was deliberately creating disturbance and conflict in order to monetize it.
That wouldn't be a problem if she had sticked to antagonizing unarmed people. If an unarmed person freaks out and decides to fight you, worst you can get is a beating.
But Nooooooooooooo. You can't monetize that on Youtube. So armed people it is.
So she antagonizes armed people, because videos of that get you moneeeeeeeeeeeeeeey. And what happens if the armed people she antagonizes don't freak out in the usual way but REALLY freak out?
You are overlooking one crucial fact: If the guard had just stood there and done nothing, she would have lost money. She NEEDED some kind of freak-out. She WANTED the freak-out. It was simply bad luck that she ran into a mentally unbalanced guy for whom freak-out means "shooting".

(88 posts)In a free country, he (not a she, at least its a male voice in the video) can literally do anything he wants as long as its not harming anyone, and you can't shoot him, no matter how much you want to.
If the KKK can march and hold rallies, then this twit can film anyone they want in public, and if they get shot, its a crime. Period.
There is 0 defense for the guard here. None. Zip. Nada. The security guard is a bad guy with a gun, and should go to jail for a few decades.

(88 posts)If I was the videographer, I definitely would have placed the guard under citizens arrest for attempted murder and then instructed the cops to take him into custody. FFS, the guy had film of his innocence and the guard committing the crime!
