Save the other anthem for ceremonial occasions, maybe honoring war heroes, providing a path to citizenship for immigrants fleeing oppression and violence, first responders, presidential inaugurations, and also, as a sign of respect and support for those who have actually fought for our national ideals, to cap the impeachment of all corrupt "party first" politicians occupying high offices as they are ceremoniously led out of the Capitol and other Federal buildings in disgrace -- and chains.

Yes, it is lovely. I also love "America the Beautiful," especially the part about "patriots' dream, which sees, beyond these years, thine alabaster cities gleam, undimmed by human tears."

(8,836 posts)Listen to a song by that same title by Todd Snider, This Land is Our Land. Amazing lyrics and so relevant today. The shredding lead guitar is pretty sweet as well. Snider is an amazing writer.
