Some sacrifice for grandchildren has always been accepted by generations.
The problem with this kind of sacrifice is broad-based and harder to imagine, and something progressives have already planned to ameliorate.

It's the believers bought by capitalists -- who want their End Story apocalypse to come about, replete with an antichrist, bear from the East and all the other symbolism -- that will "thin the herd" and kill off most of humanity, and make sure this green new deal never sees the light of day.
