. . . and about 8 or 9 months after 9-11 I got into a cab the interior of which had every inch covered by some bit of patriotic memorabilia -- I mean, to say it was "over the top" would be an understatement. So I asked the driver, a Sikh man, what that was all about. He said, "Too many people think I'm an Arab.": He went on to say that some folks had refused to get into his cab when they saw his turban, and that a few had become downright abusive. Very sad state of affairs.
