The Rule of Law was inserted in the Constitution through the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It means that the law applies to everyone — NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW. Laws must be applied the same regardless of race, gender, status or any other consideration.

In 1776, the notion that no one is above the law was popular during the founding of the United States. Influenced by Britain, France and the United States, the Rule of Law principle spread to other countries.

Adherence to the Rule of Law is the centerpiece of a free society. It means that no one is beneath the protection of the law and no one is free from the obligation to comply with it.

Everyone who works for the government in the United States takes an oath to uphold the Constitution and the laws written pursuant to it.

People who think they are above the law believe they are too clever or important to obey the law.

The Rule of Law is the general concept that the government and the governed are subject to the law and that all are to be equally protected by the law. https://www.quora.com/In-what-situation-where-the-term-no-one-is-above-the-law-not-apply
