Hitler received 37% of the vote, not enough to win.
He was appointed Chancellor.

However, the NSDAP did indeed use the tools of democracy to destroy democracy, and once Hitler was Chancellor they replaced it with dictatorship.

3 million votes fewer than Hillary, but he’s president.

The OP issue is valid, the vote in Germany issue is a distraction.

People vote in horrible leaders sometimes, mobilizing (exploiting) the less-intelligent leads to an Idiocracy.

I use the word 'fascism' whenever possible when speaking about Trump or the GOP. I get the strangest looks sometime. I don't think many Americans really understand what the word means, but I'm always happy to provide the definition.

"a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition."

explained that Hitler’s administration was just like Trump’s in that it was chaos and back-stabbing. It was everyone for themselves, like Trump’s administration. When Trump was elected I compared him to the Weimar Republic and several of my friends thought I was deranged. If Trump had a political philosophy he would be much more dangerous.

We shoulda noticed by now, our behavior is dumb
And if our chances expect to improve
It's gonna take a lot more, than trying to remove the other race
Or the other whatever, from the face
Of the planet altogether
