How Cell Phones Reveal Your Location

1. There is no privacy in communication,

My favorite toy is runskeeper. I am out every day with
my cell phone and continue to be amazed when I look at
my map location and it has to be within a few feet of where
I am at. So my cell phone location is a given and, unless I
forget it, it is always within a few feet.

2. So from that it looks like it doesn't even matter if we say, "don't track me" on our settings.

Which I always suspected was the case. It makes sense.

If you turn your phone OFF (but do not remove the battery), can they still track your location and does it still ping off of local towers? I
