What if elections were this simple?

I know that the youtuber drinkingwithbob is a needlessly aggressive Paulite who bases his angry rants on the latest spin by Fox Boobs, Sludge, Be-Lazy (my derisive nickname for The Blaze for attracting sheep with misleading titles), and noise pollution radio, but he's got an interesting idea of how to make more substantive presidential elections: the party-nominated candidates make 2-minute pitches the Friday before Election Day.

How about we hold 20 1 on 1 Lincoln/Douglas debates between the conventions and the election, broadcast on all networks, and SCREW everything else. No political or pac ads. No lobbying, or spending money, or election money injected into the democratic process to pervert and twist it.

manic, irritably and irritatingly so.

(edit: sorry i didn't see the first post. great minds think alike I guess.)

secondly, things aren't short and simple all the time. two minutes is barely enough time to spell out one's overall approach to politics, which, if the candidate has only a a short time to talk, is what i would rather hear, than specifics.

i have a better idea. all campaign appearances will be a debate between the two candidates. The only campaigning allowed will be on a publicly sponsored tv/radio station. independent advertising would be forbidden. debates would alternate between general discussion of a variety of issues and specific issues. this routine of trekking all around the country is ridiculous because it is unnecessary and expensive.

just thinking out loud.

he had me through the entire video, simplifing the process is a great Idea because the money has gotten out of hand and the lies
but then the heavy breathing ruined it for me.

YT lets you edit videos once you post them so he could have taken that out. Is that part of his act?
It's freaky

I think the debates should be a platform for all candidates running for the office.
It's not fair that they act as if we only have a two party system. the people who support 3rd parties are just as important as those of us who support Dem or Repugs. And they deserve a voice in our Government. I think if we gave the national floor to all parties there would be less voter Apathy because all voters would feel like they are being properly represented.
