Tell the Senate: Protect Our Health and Our Families from Harmful Toxic Chemicals

Use the form below to send your Senators a message urging them to pass the Safe Chemicals Act now. After you sign, we'll show you LCV's new music video "Test It, Maybe," a parody of the summer hit "Call Me, Maybe" that uses song to tell people about the dangers of toxic chemicals.

About the Safe Chemicals Act: Right now, there is little control of what goes into our everyday products, such as household cleaners and soaps, furniture, plastics, and electronics. So many of these contain toxic compounds that have been linked to rising instances of childhood cancer, learning disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, reproductive disorders, and asthma. We need Congress to pass the Safe Chemicals Act to reform our broken chemical policy and finally protect us from dangerous chemicals.

Tell them to pass the Safe Chemicals Act this fall!

Our main chemical regulatory law, the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), is failing to protect our health and the environment from the risks posed by toxic chemicals. Everyday products, such as household cleaners and soaps, furniture, plastics, and electronics, contain toxic compounds that have been linked to rising instances of childhood cancer, learning disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, reproductive disorders, and asthma. We need Congress to pass the Safe Chemicals Act to reform our broken chemical policy and finally protect us from dangerous chemicals. We hope you enjoy LCV's humorous take on a very serious issue.

Lyrics:

So many products on shelves,
What's in them they'll never tell,
And all of those chemicals
Could just ruin your day!
Consumers still have to wish
They use safe products but this
Safe Chemicals Act could kiss,
All of those fears away!

Companies' truth withholdin'
TSCA failures showin'
Public fears are growin'
We need safer products, baby!

Hey, here's a product,
And this is crazy
But it could kill you,
So test it maybe!

It's hard to convince
Congress, baby!
With regulation
We'll get some safety!

Hey, here's a product,
And this is crazy,
But it could kill you
So test it maybe!

Safe Chemicals Act,
Is there to save me
And you from products
Used regularly.

Lautenberg made the call
That there's no safety at all
We fail to test chemicals,
And now they're in my way.
Our safety isn't ideal
The threat of cancer is real
Our kids and families might feel it,
Now it's in our way.

Companies' truth withholdin'
TSCA failures showin'
Public fears are growin'
We need safer products, baby!

Hey, here's a product,
And this is crazy
But it could kill you,
So test it maybe!

It's hard to convince
Congress, baby!
With regulation
We'll get some safety!

Hey, here's a product,
And this is crazy,
But it could kill you
So test it maybe!

Safe Chemicals Act,
Is there to save me
And you from products
Used regularly.

TSCA reform in our lives
We need it so bad
We need it so bad
We need it so, so bad!
TSCA reform in our lives
We need it so bad,
Everyone knows that,
We need it so, so bad.

Hey, here's a product,
And this is crazy
But it could kill you,
So test it maybe!

It's hard to convince
Congress, baby!
With regulation
We'll get some safety!
Hey, here's a product,
And this is crazy,
But it could kill you
So test it maybe!

TSCA reform in our lives
We need it so bad
We need it so bad
We need it so so bad

TSCA reform in my life
We need it so bad
Everyone knows that
So test it maybe!
