'And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there?'

Yes, there is. This country is schizophrenic. I was reading some wingnut blabbering what some rightwing rag said about how the 'Palestinians are an 'invented people.' Actually, he was way late with that line of propaganda.

I don't get into that stuff, but the term has been recycled so many times, and I thought about just how crazy we are in this country. I recalled something both FDR and MLK alluded to, that America isn't a country, it's a idea in the process of becoming a country.

This country is run by people who have, like some of my people have been here about four centuries or less from Europe. When DNA tests were done on ancient bodies found in peat bogs in the UK, they found the same DNA was in the current area among the living. Those people in those countries certainly they know where they're from and they know they're at home. We don't.

I propose our insanity, not that the thought its original is based on the paradox within us all, that we desperately want to pretend isn't there. Americans are an 'invented' people and we are chasing something that has never been anywhere else. Which is kinda cool in many ways, because some of those ideas are just great.

But it means we're a bit crazy, don't you think?

America has been settled by Europeans.

I'm not sure that has as much influence as you think.

4. That was just an aside. I think America is as MLK said, an ideal more than a place. Something that

We haven't decided upon yet. I think we are so busy selling ourselves on what we've been promoting that we don't take time to look at things in context or long-term.

That post was also from my posting past my bedtime, too, LOL! Thanks for your reply.

I don't entirely discount the idea, mind you, it is an interesting approach/hypothesis. Certainly worth pondering over some more.

I don't think a Democrat could put together a better indictment of Romney.

The scenes of those poor people whose lives were destroyed are just devastating.

I don't see how anyone could vote for this guy after seeing these two videos...
