Control patient breathing....not real difficult to build respirator, more difficult to build computer that controls patient breathing and expertise to set controls...

but didn't need full ventilator - to free up some vents
maybe regulators could be adjusted/modified - there's a lot of that equipment

Big rubber bag you squeeze air into the lungs of the patient. We used them all the time in the hospital.. ONly problem is your hands get tired.. been there, done that, got the hand cramps..
