Lawyer explains federal officers in Portland

The most interesting part is they are using Custom Border Patrol which has more leeway under the constitution and can operate within a 100 miles of a federal border and the Pacific Ocean counts.

As hinky as the whole thing is in Portland, it's even worse here in ABQ: we're over 200 miles from the border and farther from any coastline; the only Federal property to defend are a Social Security office, an IRS office, an airbase that shares the runway with the airport (and is already adequately defended) and Sandia National Lab, which most of us are kinda proud of.

Their pretext for being here is an unsolved murder last November, meaning no way is it any of the Feds' business.
